Senior Israeli official says it is "too early to say" whether Beirut strike killed Hezbollah leader

A senior Israeli official said it is “too early to say” whether Friday’s strike targeting Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was successful.

The official added, “it’s a question of time…,” noting that it took weeks to confirm that an Israeli operation was successful in killing Hamas leader Mohammed Deif in Gaza in the summer.

The official said the decision to target Nasrallah was a “very tough call,” and said confirmation could come at any moment, noting it “depends on the intelligence, they usually try to hide it.”

When asked whether Nasrallah is alive or dead following themassive Israeli strike in Beirut, a Lebanese security official told CNN: “We wait.”
